Frequently Asked Questions
Is the brass vent cover solid brass or brass-plated?
Solid brass throughout. The easiest test: solid brass is not magnetic. If a magnet sticks, the core is steel with a brass coating. FerrumDecor covers use 1–2 mm solid brass sheet with no plating.
Will brass vent covers tarnish over time?
Unlacquered solid brass develops a natural patina, shifting from bright gold to warm amber over months and years. This is a feature — the same process that makes antique brass hardware so sought after. To maintain the bright finish, apply brass polish every 6–12 months.
Can brass vent covers be used in a bathroom?
Yes. Solid brass is corrosion-resistant in normal bathroom humidity. Unlacquered brass may develop patina faster in humid environments — this is natural and can be managed with periodic cleaning.
